Boston Bruins forward Max Talbot was slapped with a two-game suspension by the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Monday for interference on New Jersey Devils forward Jiri Tlusty.
The incident occurred during the second period of Sunday's contest between the two clubs. No penalty was assessed on the play, and Tlusty remained in the game.
The NHL cites "extreme lateness and the predatory nature of the hit" towards an unsuspecting player as the primary reason for supplemental discipline.
This is the first time Talbot has been suspended in his 11-year career. He'll be eligible to return to the lineup on Dec. 27 against the Ottawa Senators.
