McDavid 'couldn't draw it up better' after defeating hometown Maple Leafs
Thursday marked a special night for Edmonton Oilers' forward Connor McDavid.
On top of being the 19-year-old's most electric night as an NHL contributor, it also marked the first time McDavid went toe-to-toe with the team he grew up rooting for, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

"That's pretty special. You couldn't draw it up better than that," McDavid said of putting up five points en route to a 5-2 victory over the Maple Leafs, according to TSN's Mark Masters. "It's pretty special to play against that team. Looking across the ice, looking at that logo, it gave me chills a little bit."

McDavid finished the night with two goals and three assists. In addition to mesmerizing the crowd, Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Gardiner also couldn't help but marvel at McDavid's brilliance.
"You watch the stuff he can do, the little things, most players don't see," said Gardner. "He's right up there with the best players in league. Such a young kid being this good is surprising for sure.
"Random pucks will go a certain way and some guys will cycle it back down low, but he knows exactly what to do with it."
McDavid has 13 points in six games since returning from injury.
