Dublin, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Five-time champ Tiger Woods made the cut on the number at 1-under-par 143 at the Memorial Friday. Woods bogeyed two of the last three holes for a 2-under 70.

Early on, Woods was on fire as he birdied three of the first four holes to jumped to minus-2 for the tournament. He parred five in a row from the fifth.

Around the turn, Woods came up short of the 10th after driving into the rough. He failed to save pars and slipped to minus-1. He fought back with an 18-foot birdie putt at 12. Woods birdied the 14th from the front fringe to climb to 3- under.

Woods missed the green at the 16th and his chip ran 33 feet past the hole. He 2-putted for bogey from there. Another poor drive at 17 led to a bogey, which dropped Woods to the cut line. Woods, who has hit 9-of-28 fairways through two rounds, missed the fairway at 18 and came up short with his second. However, he got up and down for his par to make the cut.

"All the tee shots, I'm hitting them straight right, so I thought I'd let one go (on 11) and of course I hit it in the water. That 3-wood there, I don't know how I hit that far. I had 267 to the hole and hit it about 290 into the wind ... but that was a pretty sweet up and down. It kind of got things going" Woods said. "Obviously, displeased with the driving, I didn't drive it very good again. The putting was great. I had a great feel for the pace."

David Lingmerth fired a 7-under 65 in Friday's second round and jumped into the lead.

Lingmerth finished 36 holes at 12-under-par 132, good for a 1-shot lead over former PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner. Lingmerth has never won on the PGA Tour, but shared second place twice in 2013 at the Humana Challenge and the Players Championship.

Dufner had back-to-back eagles, including a hole-in-one at the 16th, en route to a 5-under 67. He is alone in second place a minus-11.

Andy Sullivan had the low round of the day with his 8-under 64. That helped the Englishman soar into a tie for third at 10-under-par 134. He stands alongside 2007 runner-up Ryan Moore, who shot 67 for the second day in a row.

Defending champion Hideki Matsuyama, who shared the first round lead with Bo Van Pelt at Muirfield Village, managed a 1-under 71. Matsuyama was joined there by 2002 champion Jim Furyk (66), Francesco Molinari (67), Brendon Todd (68), 2010 winner Justin Rose (67) and Patrick Rodgers (66) at minus-9.

Van Pelt posted an even-par 72 and is tied for 11th with Marc Leishman (67) at 8-under 136.

Lingmerth, who was in the first group out, opened with six straight pars. He got up and down for birdie at the par-5 seventh and followed with birdies at eight and nine to make it three in a row.

The Swede made the turn at minus-8 and parred his first two holes on the inward nine. He dropped his tee shot at the par-3 12th five feet from the hole and drained that putt for birdie.

Lingmerth stuffed his approach inside three feet at 14 and kicked that in for birdie to move to minus-10. After pouring in a long birdie try at the 16th, Lingmerth capped his round with a short birdie effort at the last.

"All of a sudden I just started playing the way I know I can. And it was pretty stress-free after those four holes yesterday," said Lingmerth, who was 2-over par through four holes on Thursday and has carded 14 birdies since.

Dufner birdied the 11th, but followed with a double-bogey at 12. He rolled in a 5-footer for birdie on the 14th and drained a 6-foot eagle try at 15.

The 2013 PGA Champion holed his tee shot for an ace at 16 to jump to minus-10. However, he stumbled to a bogey at 17. Around the turn, Dufner birdied the first and third before closing his round with six straight pars.

"Yeah a little up and down today. I kind of had some stretches where I'm playing good golf and some poor golf. Hole-in-ones are great. It's kind of lucky," said Dufner. "Happy where I'm at, but I need to clean up those bad holes."

Kenny Perry, a three-time winner, was playing in what is likely to be his final PGA Tour event. He birdied the 15th to get within one of making the cut, but bogeyed the last to end at plus-1.

NOTES: This is just the second time Lingmerth has owned the overnight lead on the PGA Tour ... He was the 54-hole leader at the 2013 Players Championship, but finished second ... Rodgers needs to finish solo 62nd or better to earn special temporary membership for the remainder of the 2015 PGA Tour season ... Alex Cejka was disqualified after signing an incorrect scorecard ... The cut fell at even-par 144 and 71 players made it to the weekend .. Among those missing the cut were 2010 runner-up and Players Championship winner Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, 2004 champion Ernie Els and Charl Schwartzel.
