That tennis all-timer Roger Federer is a fan of NBA legend Michael Jordan is no shock, as both men dominated their respective sports with style, grace, and intensity, reaching heights which had previously been unfathomable.
Federer's admiration of Jordan goes all the way back to his childhood in Switzerland, where live footage of His Airness was scarce. Still, Federer's fandom of the Bulls' great persisted.
"I watched every Sunday (highlight) show," Federer on Complex's "Sneaker Shopping". "Michael was the guy. He transcended basketball and was the hero of our entire generation."
It's telling that much of that praise could also apply to Federer himself.
"In Switzerland and in Germany, and where I grew up, (Jordan) was so big, and so well-liked, so successful, well-spoken," Federer explained. "He had the perfect run going for so long."
