The year started off well for Raonic, as he made the finals of the Brisbane International, losing to Roger Federer in three sets. He lost in the quartefinals of the Australian Open to Novak Djokovic, who took home the year's first major title.
Raonic made the quarterfinals at Roland Garros last year, losing to Djokovic in straight sets.
