No. 7 Ana Ivanovic defeats No. 19 Elina Svitolina 6-3, 6-2
No. 13 Lucie Safarova defeats No. 21 Garbine Muguruza 7-6, 6-3
Notes: With the win, Ivanovic advances to her first Grand Slam semifinal since winning her only Grand Slam title, the 2008 French Open. ... This is the 42nd consecutive Grand Slam appearance for the Serb trailing only Francesca Schiavone and Jelena Jankovic in the WTA. ... She will advance to face Safarova for the third time at Roland Garros. ... Last year, Safarova beat Ivanovic in the third round 6-3, 6-3, but Ivanovic won their matchup 6-1, 6-2 en route to her title seven years ago. ... Safarova's win gets her into the first French Open semifinal of her career. "I'm so excited, amazing," she said after the match. ... The 13-seed is yet to drop a set in Paris.
Men's Quarterfinals
No. 8 Stan Wawrinka defeats No. 2 Roger Federer 6-4, 6-3, 7-6
No. 14 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga defeats No. 5 Kei Nishikori 6-1, 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-3
Notes: Today's loss was the first time Federer failed to break serve in a Grand Slam match since the 2002 U.S. Open. ... It was the third time Wawrinka beat Federer in his career, the first time at a major. He is headed to the French Open semis for the first time. ... A scary incident occurred during the second set between Nishikori and Tsonga.

Tsonga was leading 6-1, 5-2 when play was suspended but was able to hold off his opponent's charge becoming only the second player to beat Nishikori in five sets at ta Grand Slam.
