<p>Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/100596" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/100596">Maxx Crosby</a> has been named Eastern Michigan's assistant general manager for football, the school announced Monday.</p><p>"There is no place more important to my personal and athletic development than Eastern Michigan University," Crosby said in a statement released by the school.</p><p>Crosby tallied 20 sacks, 42 tackles for loss, and eight forced fumbles in 37 appearances across three seasons with the MAC program. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 draft after his standout college career.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"Maxx Crosby's return to EMU in this leadership role is a transformative moment for our football program," director of athletics Scott Wetherbee raved.</p><p>The school will also rename its depth chart for the weak-side defensive end position from "LEO" to "MAXX," and the team's top edge rusher will wear Crosby's No. 92.</p><p>Eastern Michigan finished the 2024 season with a 5-7 record. The program made three consecutive bowl game appearances from 2021-23. The Eagles defeated San Jose State to win the Potato Bowl in 2022.</p><p>Crosby has posted 59.5 sacks, 105 tackles for loss, 144 quarterback hits, and nine forced fumbles in 95 career games with the Raiders. He signed a three-year, $106.5-million extension with Las Vegas in March.</p>

Last year's return rate of 32.8% was a marked increase from the 2023 campaign's 21.8%, but it was still a lower rate than any season since at least 2000, per Seifert.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Seven kickoffs were returned for touchdowns during the 2024 season - the highest mark since 2020, when there were also seven.</p><p>The initial 2024 proposal would've placed touchbacks at the 35-yard line last season, but it was changed to the 30 during final discussions.</p><p>The committee is expected to submit the proposal in time for the league meetings that begin Sunday, where NFL owners will vote on a number of <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3245971" href="https://thescore.com/news/3245971">potential rule changes</a>.</p>

<p>The NFL revealed several team proposals for rule and bylaw changes Wednesday that the league will vote on at its annual meeting, including adjustments to seeding and regular-season overtime.</p><p>The Detroit Lions submitted the most drastic proposal: a change to playoff seeding that would favor teams with the best records, regardless of division standings. For example, the Minnesota Vikings (14-3), Washington Commanders (12-5), and Green Bay Packers (11-6) were wild-card teams last season despite owning better records than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-7) and Los Angeles Rams (10-7), who won their divisions. The Vikings, Commanders, and Packers would be seeded higher than the Buccaneers and Rams under the proposed change.</p><p>The Philadelphia Eagles proposed adopting the league's playoff overtime rules during the regular season. Both teams would possess the ball in a 15-minute overtime period (extended from its current 10 minutes) rather than one team being able to win the game with a touchdown on the first possession of the extra frame. Rare exceptions would include a safety being scored on the first possession of overtime - a rule already in place.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Detroit also proposed to eliminate granting an automatic first down to the offense when the defense commits a holding or illegal contact penalty. The team cited "competitive equity" as a reason for the change, stating that the "current penalty enforcement is too punitive for the defense."</p><p>The final suggested rule change, made by the Packers, seeks to ban the tush push that the Eagles made popular over the last several seasons. The amended rule would prohibit an offensive player from "immediately at the snap, push(ing) or throw(ing) his body against a teammate, who was lined up directly behind the snapper and received the snap, to aid him in an attempt to gain yardage."</p><p>Owners will discuss and vote on potential changes during the league's annual meeting, which starts March 30. At least 75% (24 of the 32 teams) must vote in favor of a new rule for it to pass. The NFL's competition committee has yet to reveal its own proposals, which will also be voted on during the meeting. In February, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nfl-overtime-rules-e25e2b863e88cfb0c6b49d5f82a2e914">the committee indicated</a> it was considering changes to the regular-season overtime rules and expanding the number of fouls that qualify for replay assist.</p>

The 23-year-old is entering the final season of his rookie deal.</p><p>Green struggled during the 2024 campaign before Houston benched him near the end of October. The Texas A&amp;M product played sparingly from Week 9 through the end of the campaign. Green finished the season ranked 131st of 135 guards in overall grade, 107th in pass-blocking, and 131st in run-blocking, per <a href="https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/kenyon-green/99052">PFF</a>.</p>
