<p>Philadelphia Eagles pass-rusher <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/188182" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/188182">Nolan Smith</a> played through a torn triceps he suffered during the Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, <a href="https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1893065929661260234">NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo</a> report.</p><p>Smith reportedly underwent surgery Wednesday and is expected to be ready for the 2025 season.</p><p>The 24-year-old totalled 30 defensive snaps in the win over the Chiefs and registered two quarterback hits.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Smith was a crucial part of the Eagles' daunted pass rush during their Super Bowl run. The Georgia product notched four sacks and four quarterback hits in the postseason.</p><p>Drafted in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Smith only recorded one sack as a rookie before tallying 6.5 sacks in 2024.</p>

<p>The Jacksonville Jaguars are hiring Los Angeles Rams executive James Gladstone as their next general manager, the team announced Friday.</p><p>"James emerged as my choice, and our choice, following a painstaking but energizing interview process that left nothing to doubt," team owner Shad Khan said in a statement obtained by <a href="https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1893044405684314174">NFL Network's Ian Rapoport</a>. "Every candidate delivered, and I am grateful to them all for their preparation and time spent with us this week in Jacksonville.</p><p>"In the end, we found James to be a class ahead and exceptional in every regard - vision, new ideas, communication, chemistry, and a keen understanding of the league and our team, to name a few of (the) many virtues he will bring immediately to the Jaguars."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Gladstone served as the Rams' director of scouting strategy before taking the Jaguars job.</p><p>Jacksonville needed a GM after parting ways with Trent Baalke in late January. Baalke's dismissal came just a day prior to the franchise hiring former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen as its next head coach.</p><p>The Jaguars narrowed down their GM search to five finalists before settling on Gladstone. The other candidates included interim GM Ethan Waugh, San Francisco 49ers director of scouting and football operations Josh Williams, Green Bay Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan, and Chicago Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham.</p><p>Gladstone will inherit a Jaguars team that holds the fifth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The front office will also have about $38 million in cap space at its disposal, per <a href="https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/jacksonville-jaguars">Over The Cap</a>.</p>

<p>The Arizona Cardinals are poised to have a busy offseason, according to general manager Monti Ossenfort.</p><p>"We are going to be active (in free agency)," Ossenfort said on Arizona Sports 98.7's "Newsmakers Week" on Friday, according to team reporter <a href="https://www.azcardinals.com/news/monti-ossenfort-michael-bidwill-plan-for-the-cardinals-to-be-active-during-free-agency">Zach Gershman</a>. "We're going to look for every avenue to improve the team, but we have to be smart about not only this year's team but as we build for the future and our own players that we want to extend."</p><p>The Cardinals are projected to have over $76 million in cap space this offseason, per <a href="https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/arizona-cardinals">Over The Cap</a>. That money could further the ascension of an Arizona franchise that won eight games in 2024, its most since 2021.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"We're so close," owner Michael Bidwill said. "This is such a competitive division. He ended the 2024 regular season without an interception but did snag one during the team's wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers.</p><p>The Lions selected Slay in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft and traded him to Philadelphia during the 2020 offseason. He's been named to six Pro Bowls and grabbed 28 interceptions over his career, including a league-high eight picks in 2017.</p>

Meanwhile, Hutchinson appeared to be on track for his first DPOY title after recording 7.5 sacks through five games in 2024 before suffering a broken tibia in October, which ended his season.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Garrett asked the Cleveland Browns for a trade earlier this month, hoping to land with a Super Bowl contender. The Browns pass-rusher has two years left on the five-year, $125-million extension he signed in 2020.</p><p>Hutchinson isn't the only NFC star chasing Garrett: Dallas Cowboys pass-rusher <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/161667" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/161667">Micah Parsons</a> also <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3211583" href="https://thescore.com/news/3211583">expressed</a> interest in teaming up with Cleveland's edge rusher.</p>

<p>Big changes are on the way for the historic Monaco Grand Prix.</p><p>The Formula 1 commission agreed to increase the number of mandatory pit stops during the Monaco Grand Prix in hopes of "promoting better racing," the FIA announced Tuesday.</p><p>The Sporting Advisory Committee will discuss proposed new regulations for the Monaco race in the coming weeks, the FIA added.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Monaco is often criticized for being a procession due to the lack of overtakes on the tight street circuit. The top 10 finishers in last year's race, which was won by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, remained unchanged from their starting grid spots after a early red flag eliminated any need to make a pit stop.</p><p>The objective for Monaco is for drivers to make two mandatory pit stops and use all three tire compounds, sources told <a href="https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/articles/cj92l2lw274o">Andrew Benson of the BBC</a>. Two stops would reportedly still be necessary for a wet race, though tire requirements would be loosened.</p><p>Drivers are currently obligated to use at least two different tire compounds during a dry race.</p><p>Monaco has long been a staple on the F1 calendar. The street circuit is part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport alongside the Indianapolis 500 and 24 Hours of Le Mans.</p><p>The F1 commission also agreed to stop limiting the number of gearboxes teams are allowed to use, stating that "the reliability of current designs renders this restriction obsolete."</p><p>Other changes approved for 2025 include more stringent deflection tests on the rear wing from the start of the season and tougher tests on the front wing from the Spanish Grand Prix onward.</p>

Though he posted only six sacks in 2024, Los Angeles is a better team with him.</p><p><strong>Interior offensive line help</strong>: The Chargers could really use an upgrade at center after an inconsistent season by Bradley Bozeman. Whether it's via free agency or the draft, bolstering the interior will pay dividends for Los Angeles' run game.</p><h3><a id="LV" name="LV">Las Vegas Raiders</a></h3><p><strong>Figure out the QB blueprint</strong>: The GOAT will reportedly have a hands-on approach in this department. Are Tom Brady's evaluation skills as sharp as his on-field talent? The Raiders won't escape mediocrity until they get a long-term answer under center.</p><p><strong>Get a bell-cow RB</strong>: The Raiders never recovered from losing Josh Jacobs last offseason. <p>The Jacksonville Jaguars interviewed former Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson for their vacant general manager position, the team announced Thursday.</p><p>Robinson spent seven seasons as the Titans' general manager but was let go after the 2022 season. The team produced a winning record in six of his seven seasons in Tennessee, racking up a 66-48 mark and four playoff appearances in that span. The Titans' lone losing season (7-10) under Robinson came in his final year as general manager.</p><p>The 49-year-old hasn't worked in an NFL front office since leaving Tennessee.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Jacksonville started its search for a general manager later than most other teams in the league after parting ways with Trent Baalke on Jan. 22. Baalke served in the Jaguars' front office since 2020 and held the general manager title from 2021 until the end of the 2024 season.</p><p>Chicago Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham and San Francisco 49ers executive Josh Williams are among other candidates in the running for the Jaguars' GM opening.</p><p>The Jaguars will also enter the 2025 campaign with a new head coach after hiring Liam Coen in late January. </p>

<p>Lando Norris says he won't cave to Max Verstappen's on-track aggressiveness in his bid for the 2025 drivers' championship.</p><p>"I need to get my elbows out, and I need to show that I'm not going to willingly give him any positions, those kind of things," Norris said, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/43826175/lando-norris-ready-elbows-vs-max-verstappen-title-fight">ESPN's Nate Saunders</a>. "But I also have to be a smart driver. You have to be a smart driver to go up against Max."</p><p>Norris added that he doesn't need to "take any unnecessary risks" or "prove something" to Verstappen.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Norris and Verstappen came to blows multiple times over the course of the 2024 campaign, with controversial incidents in Austria, Austin, and Mexico. The British driver came out worse on most of those occasions, as he was forced to retire in Austria and surrendered his podium place to Verstappen in Austin. His clash with Verstappen in Mexico likely cost him an opportunity for victory.</p><p>Verstappen went on to win the 2024 drivers' title despite winning only two of the final 14 races. Norris finished as runner-up and ended the season on a high with a victory in Abu Dhabi as McLaren clinched the constructors' crown.</p><p>"I don't think you have to do anything special to try and beat Max," Norris explained. "He's quick, he's aggressive, he's one of the best ever. The easy way is just going out and being a bit quicker than him and staying ahead. That's the obvious plan, but I know, I've just got to be smart. That's the answer to it all. You have to be smart, and you have to position the car well and also think of the long game sometimes."</p><p>Norris, who won four races in 2024, is expecting competition from others and predicts it won't just be the reigning four-time Dutch champion he has to worry about.</p><p>"I don't think Max is going to be just the guy," Norris added, per <a href="https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/43823451/lando-norris-max-verstappen-guy-2025">ESPN</a>. Only Jackson, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/89514" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/89514">Patrick Mahomes</a>, and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/747" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/747">Aaron Rodgers</a> have taken home the accolade over the previous six campaigns, with each quarterback winning twice in that span.</p><p>The Bills passer boasts a career record of 76-34 with 195 passing touchdowns to 84 interceptions. He's also totalled 4,142 rushing yards and 65 scores on the ground.</p><p>Allen ended the regular season as the MVP favorite but Jackson took over as the front-runner weeks later after being named a first-team All-Pro also by The Associated Press. However, the Buffalo star once again became the favorite on the days leading up to the NFL awards show.</p><p>"I was pretty surprised, given what we know about how the voting goes. Lamar was very deserving of this as well," Allen said Thursday about winning football's most prestigious individual award, according to <a href="https://x.com/johnbreech/status/1887715477910143073">John Breech of CBS Sports</a>.</p><p>Allen is the first Bills QB ever to be named MVP.</p>

"So there's a lot of changes going on up there. I kind of feel honored and privileged that they called me and asked me to be a part of it going forward."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>He added: "Any way I can help support the football ops side of it, that's technically what my job is going to be."</p><p>Spielman served as general manager of the Vikings from 2012 to 2021. Minnesota put up a 87-72-2 record during that span with four playoff appearances.</p><p>Spielman said he'll be a "sounding board" for the Jets with new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey still acting as the "final decision makers."</p><p>"I don't need to make the decisions," Spielman said. "I don't want to make the decisions anymore."</p><p>The Jets enter the 2025 season searching for their first playoff berth since the 2010 campaign. </p>
