Joseph wasn't qualified by Pittsburgh in the summer and signed a one-year contract with St. Louis worth $950,000.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Joseph tallied eight goals and 37 points in 147 contests during his first stint with the Penguins. He was initially acquired by Pittsburgh in 2019 as part of the trade that sent Phil Kessel to the Arizona Coyotes.</p><p>Joseph had reunited with his brother Mathieu in St. Louis.</p>

He's signed through 2025-26 at a $4.5-million cap hit.</p><p>The 32-year-old has a full no-trade clause this season, but he's willing to consider other options, Friedman reports.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Saad has four goals and 10 points in 27 games and is tied for ninth among Blues skaters in scoring. He tallied 26 goals and 42 points last season.</p><p>The two-time Stanley Cup champion has been traded three times in his NHL career. Most notably, the Columbus Blue Jackets traded Saad back to his first club, the Chicago Blackhawks, for <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/4530" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/4530">Artemi Panarin</a> in 2017.</p><p>Saad has 257 goals and 509 points in 890 career games. <p>Nashville Predators head coach Andrew Brunette had a blunt assessment of his team through 28 games.</p><p>"We could scratch every guy in our lineup," Brunette said Tuesday, according to <a href="https://x.com/AlexDaugherty1/status/1866529104868037028">The Tennessean's Alex Daugherty</a>. "But unfortunately, we need players going. At different times, (scratching high-profile players) crosses your mind. But they have to earn it; you can't just do it to do it. It's a false thing to do where you try to create something ... Players see right through that."</p><p>Brunette noted it can be difficult to balance accountability with keeping players happy.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"Is there going to come a time (to scratch high-profile players)? There might," Brunette said. "But saying that, everyone wants to be held accountable. But they don't like when they're held accountable. That's where it gets tricky. And when you've got a whole team that's probably not playing up to their capabilities, to their expectations, it's easy to have an excuse for how come he's not getting it. My point to them is, how about you play better?"</p><p>The Predators have the fewest wins in the NHL, sporting a 7-15-6 record. Nashville has dropped seven straight games (three in overtime) and has a league-worst minus-27 goal differential.</p><p>The team's struggles come after high expectations entering the campaign. The Predators made the playoffs last season and spent a combined $20.5-million annual cap hit on veterans <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/1152" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/1152">Steven Stamkos</a>, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/2870" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/2870">Jonathan Marchessault</a>, and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/4511" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/4511">Brady Skjei</a> in free agency.</p><p>Stamkos and Marchessault have combined for 12 goals in 28 games after both hit the 40-goal mark last season. He's in the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.</p><p>Georgiev, 28, has an .874 save percentage in 18 games this season and has allowed four or more goals in seven contests. Only <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/4571" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/4571">Juuse Saros</a> and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/3997" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/3997">Connor Hellebuyck</a> have started more games than Georgiev since he was traded to Colorado in 2022. The Bulgarian-born Russian posted a .919 SV% in his first season with the Avalanche in 2022-23 and fell to an .897 SV% last year.</p><p>Blackwood has been much better than Georgiev on a worse Sharks team. He sports a .909 SV% in 17 starts and has a 6-9-3 record. He made 49 saves in a 3-1 loss against the Florida Panthers on Saturday. Blackwood hasn't had a save percentage above .900 over a full season since 2020-21 with the New Jersey Devils.</p><p>The 28-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season and costs $2.35 million against the salary cap.</p><p>Kovalenko, 25, has four goals and eight points in 28 games. The Russian winger joined Colorado in the spring after six seasons in the KHL. He was drafted by the Avalanche 171st overall in 2018 and will be a restricted free agent in the summer.</p><p>Smith, 26, has zero points and 10 penalty minutes in six contests with the Sharks. He cleared waivers Monday and is eligible to be assigned to the AHL by Colorado.</p><p>Blackwood is the second goaltender the Avalanche have recently acquired. Colorado added <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/1794" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/1794">Scott Wedgewood</a> from the Nashville Predators on Dec. 1, completely reforming the team's goaltending duo in the span of nine days. Wedgewood recorded a 25-save shutout Sunday against the New Jersey Devils.</p><p>The Avalanche cleared $1.47 million in the trade should Smith be assigned to the minors. Colorado has $3 million in cap space with the newly acquired forward still on the roster.</p>

<p>Ottawa Senators owner Michael Andlauer isn't happy with the way teams are handling their interest in captain <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/7845" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/7845">Brady Tkachuk</a>, he told <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5981606/2024/12/09/senators-rangers-brady-tkachuk-tampering/">The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun</a> at the board of governors meeting in Florida on Monday.</p><p>Although he didn't mention the New York Rangers by name, Andlauer's frustration stems from a report by the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/12/06/sports/messy-jacob-trouba-breakup-is-just-the-start-of-a-rangers-overhaul/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social">New York Post's Larry Brooks</a> that indicated the Rangers are very keen on the forward, according to LeBrun.</p><p>"If indeed (Brooks is) being fed false information, or people are giving this information from another NHL organization, I don't know - we just had a big memo about tampering from the NHL. I might consider that soft tampering," Andlauer told LeBrun.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"I cannot just sit and watch someone try and disrupt our organization using blatant misinformation without pushing back," he told <a href="https://ottawacitizen.com/ottawa-senators/owner-rips-rangers-tkachuk-trade-rumours">the Ottawa Citizen's Bruce Garrioch</a>. </p><p>The Senators haven't spoken to a single team about Tkachuk, the executive told LeBrun.</p><p>The Rangers refuted Andlauer's comments: "This is an irresponsible accusation, and we defer to the commissioner's office," the team said in a statement, according to <a href="https://x.com/frank_seravalli/status/1866173150301405523">Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli</a>.</p><p>The current situation isn't the first time Andlauer has had to speak with Tkachuk to resolve a rumor.</p><p>"When I see our captain, in the one year I've been (Senators owner), there's been three separate occasions where there's been fires we had to put out," Andlauer told LeBrun. "I can tell you 100% there's never actually been an ounce of discussion about Brady Tkachuk being anything other than an Ottawa Senator."</p><p>Ottawa's owner intends to discuss the issue with commissioner Gary Bettman while in Florida this week.</p><p>Tkachuk has 13 goals, 29 points, and 50 penalty minutes in 27 games this season. The 25-year-old is signed through 2027-28 at an $8.2-million cap hit.</p>

McAvoy had delivered a big hit on Flyers forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nhl/players/8283" href="https://thescore.com/nhl/players/8283">Joel Farabee</a> and Konecny went after the Bruins blue-liner.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Konecny was taken to the locker room while serving the penalty after being pulled by the concussion spotter. He was eligible to return to the game but wasn't used by Tortorella for the rest of the third period and overtime.</p><p>Konecny leads the Flyers with 13 goals and 31 points in 27 games. He was named to Canada's 4 Nations Face-Off roster earlier in the week.</p><p>Tortorella was also frustrated by the penalty differential in the contest.</p><p>"One thing I teach my team to do is not dive," Tortorella said. "Maybe I should start teaching them that. The way this has gone here, the way shit goes on, maybe I should start teaching them how to dive." </p><p>Tortorella added: "It's one of the things we talk about most as a team, we gotta play an honest game. There's no cheating. There's no embarrassing referees. You don't embarrass the referees. The shit that went on here tonight is just ridiculous. I'm proud of the way our team played. Did we piss another one away? Yeah. But other people had a little bit to do with that also."</p><p>The Bruins had six power plays Saturday compared to just two for Philadelphia.</p><p>The Flyers are 12-11-4 and rank fifth in the Metropolitan Division.</p>

He had missed five contests this season due to recurring lower-body issues.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"It's going to be one of the most interesting years of my career, I would say," Seguin told <a href="https://x.com/MikeHeika/status/1864029199285313767">team reporter Mike Heika</a> on Saturday before he was placed on injured reserve. "Hopefully, at the end of the day, it's with a big shiny thing in the end."</p><p>The Stars can put Seguin and his $9.85-million cap hit on long-term injured reserve.</p><p>Seguin underwent right hip surgery in 2020. He was limited to only three games in the following 2020-21 campaign.</p><p>The 2010 second overall pick is 12 contests away from reaching the 1,000-game mark. There's always a few surprises whenever you talk about the world juniors.</p><p>"For me, personally, it doesn't deter what I think of him. I think he's a great young defenseman, and we're lucky to have him. "Obviously, something you don't want to see, but just a split-second too early."</p><p>Reaves didn't offer an opinion on the length of his suspension but noted the $35,156 in salary he forfeited put a dent in his holiday plans.</p><p>"I don't want to get into that," Reaves <a href="https://x.com/markhmasters/status/1864011407215169842">said</a>. "I already told the kids that Christmas is canceled. I don't want to get fined again. It's over. "That's all that matters to me at this point in my career."</p><p>McDavid is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026. The Edmonton Oilers can sign him to an extension no earlier than July 1, 2025.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"My priority is to win," McDavid added. "My priority is to take care of my family. Those are the two things I worry about. Those are my two obligations."</p><p>McDavid's contract status isn't top of mind for Jeff Jackson, who's the Oilers' hockey operations CEO and McDavid's former agent.</p><p>"We're just leaving it because we're not talking contract (right now)," Jackson said. Now, guys are pushing the cap."</p><p>Jackson doesn't feel Draisaitl's eight-year extension will impact McDavid's future decision.</p><p>"They're buddies," Jackson said. "Everybody ties them at the hip, and that's the logical thing for everyone to do, but (McDavid's) his own man. He'll make his own decision. I think if we have a team that he thinks is going to compete, he'll be fine."</p><p>McDavid became the fourth-fastest player in NHL history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark earlier this season. He's led the league in scoring five times in nine campaigns and is a three-time Hart Trophy winner as NHL MVP. He won the Rocket Richard Trophy in 2023 as the league's top goal-scorer and claimed the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in the spring. McDavid was the first skater to win the award despite losing the Stanley Cup Final since 1976.</p>

"It was quite painful throughout the end of the year, and hence, had another procedure done to it to alleviate the pain I had going down my leg. My commitments going forward, is it once a month? I could say that all over again, but I truly don't know."</p><p>Woods competed in five events on TOUR this year, notably missing the cut at the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open. He also withdrew from the Genesis Invitational in February due to illness and finished 60th at the Masters in April.</p>

Macklin Celebrini, Canada's scoring leader at the 2024 tourney, is with the San Jose Sharks and is unlikely to be sent back for the world juniors.</p><p>Eight forwards on the camp roster were drafted in the first round - Beaudoin, Catton, Cowan, Luchanko, Nadeau, Ritchie, Wood, and Yager.</p><p>Cowan has registered a point in 54 consecutive regular-season games dating back to last November. Doug Gilmour holds the OHL record at 55 contests, though Cowan won't officially break Gilmour's mark if he gets to 56 games since his streak spans two seasons.</p><p>Martone is a contender to go first overall in next year's NHL draft and ranks second in OHL scoring. McKenna, the top prospect for the 2026 draft, scored 20 points in seven games at the Under-18s in the spring. He'll turn 17 years old before the tournament begins.</p><p>Cristall leads the entire CHL with 2.61 points per game.</p><p>Canada also omitted OHL scoring leader Michael Misa from the roster. A member of the Blues Hall of Fame, he now serves as Binnington's agent.</p><p>Binnington made his first start with the Blues in January 2019. He went 24-5-1 the rest of the season and backstopped St. Louis to its first Stanley Cup triumph that spring. The 31-year-old has a 152-103-32 record over seven seasons and has played 297 games with the Blues</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Liut amassed his record over six campaigns and 347 contests with St. Louis, going 151-133 with 52 ties.</p><p>Binnington is the fourth active goaltender to lead their respective franchise's all-time wins list. <p>Sarah Fillier's starred with Canada's national team since 2021. She has an impressive collection of gold medals and individual awards at only 24 years old. But what comes next is a brand-new challenge: professional hockey.</p><p>Fillier was drafted first overall in June by the PWHL's New York Sirens - a selection that surprised nobody. She racked up 93 goals and 194 points in 120 NCAA games at Princeton, scored over a goal per game at the 2022 Olympics, and won MVP at the 2023 Worlds. "The style of play in the PWHL will definitely be faster and more physical than what I've experienced in college, but I feel ready for the challenge."</p><p>The PWHL's physicality has been a storyline in its early existence. New Sirens teammate Abby Roque has noticed Fillier's effort to embrace that side of the game in training camp.</p><p>"One of the biggest things that we've seen from her is, I think this summer, she really tried to focus on gaining some muscle and making sure she was ready for the physicality," Roque said. </p><p>"We all knew she's smart enough, talented enough, great scoring touch. I think the main focus for a lot of those young players coming from college was, 'How am I gonna adapt to the physicality and the speed of this?' We all know how good she is. She came in ready. You could tell she put in the work this summer to be able to play that physical game."</p><p>Early signs are positive. The CWHL, Canada's preeminent league, folded weeks before the end of her rookie Princeton campaign.</p><p>"It was hard seeing the CWHL fold, but I always believed that a league like the PWHL would eventually come together," Fillier said. "When (the PWHL) was announced, I was thrilled. It's such a big step for women's hockey, and to have a league that truly supports the players is incredible. The uncertainty made the experience of being drafted even more special.</p><p>"It's honestly still surreal to think about," Fillier said. "The whole draft process was an incredible experience. I'm so grateful for all the support I received leading up to it and those who've helped fuel my journey, from my family, teammates, coaches, and partners like Gatorade. She <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3109509" href="https://thescore.com/news/3109509">reportedly</a> rejected multiple three-year Sirens contract offers, instead opting to sign a one-year pact.</p><p>"The shorter-term contract made sense for me because it gives me the chance to prove myself and show what I can do at the professional level," Fillier said. "I'm excited for the challenge, and I think it's the right move at this stage of my career."</p><p>The Sirens can exclusively negotiate a new contract with Fillier next summer. The PWHL implemented a new rule this offseason allowing teams to hold drafted players' rights for two years.</p><p>Fillier's primary experience facing the kind of competition she'll see as a pro has come with Team Canada. Some players she's been accustomed to playing with her entire career are now her opponents.</p><p>"I'm definitely excited to face off against my Canadian teammates like Marie-Philip Poulin and Natalie Spooner," she said. The two have gone head-to-head for years, including at the 2024 World Championship, where Carpenter tied for the tournament lead in goals (six) and points (10).</p><p>"It's exciting," Fillier said. "When I think of the U.S. team, I think she's one of the hardest players to play against. I think we see the ice the same way, which is super nice when you're coming in fresh and have never played together."</p><p>Sceptres head coach Troy Ryan has seen Fillier's progression in recent years as Team Canada's head coach. He'll be one of five bench bosses game-planning how to stop her.</p><p>"I expect her to be very dynamic, much like she is when she's playing with the national team," Ryan said. "She's done a great job early on to come and inject herself into our lineup and kinda take on the identity of how we want to play as a team."</p><p>Fillier's pick for Fargo's Gatorade shower if the Sirens win the Walter Cup this year: Cool blue, her favorite flavor.</p><p>Now, a Walter Cup triumph would be a huge leap for a New York team that missed the playoffs by nine points in last year's 24-game inaugural season. Fillier's expectations for herself are more straightforward.</p><p>"My personal expectations are to keep developing, contribute to the team's success, and play a key role in creating scoring opportunities," she said. "I want to bring my best every game."</p><p>Fillier makes her PWHL debut Sunday against the Minnesota Frost, the defending Walter Cup champions.</p>
