<p>The Dallas Cowboys are expected to designate defensive tackle <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/161869" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/161869">Osa Odighizuwa</a> with the franchise tag if a long-term deal isn't reached by Tuesday, sources told <a href="https://x.com/JFowlerESPN/status/1896295713652543816">ESPN's Jeremy Fowler</a>.</p><p>The tag would be worth $25.1 million, and the team has had extensive talks with him over the past few months, Fowler <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/44068534/2025-nfl-combine-latest-buzz-news-rumors-free-agency-draft-trades">added</a>. No final decision has been made by the Cowboys. All teams have until 4 p.m. Tuesday to franchise tag a player.</p><p>The 26-year-old UCLA product could be one of the top free agent defensive linemen. The virtual measurement drops decision-making times 55% from an average of 75 seconds to 30 seconds, according to <a href="https://x.com/MikeGarafolo/status/1894862511955923004">Garafolo</a>, citing an NFL Football Operations presentation.</p><p>The Hawk-Eye system is already used by professional sports leagues including the Premier League, MLB, and NBA, and by tennis majors including Wimbledon. Numerous high-speed cameras are placed around the playing area and footage is analyzed frame-by-frame to make close decisions. Those cameras will track players, officials, and the ball.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The league approved the use of the technology last preseason, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/40285334/what-new-first-technology-mean-nfl-chain-gang">ESPN's Kyle Bonagura and Kris Rhim</a>, but didn't implement it for the regular season. Possible additions include roughing the passer calls below the knee, unnecessary roughness calls involving a defenseless player, facemask penalties, and horse-collar tackles.</p><p>The competition committee is also mulling over changing regular-season overtime rules to be the same as the playoffs, according to <a href="https://apnews.com/article/nfl-overtime-rules-e25e2b863e88cfb0c6b49d5f82a2e914">The Associated Press' Rob Maaddi</a>. In postseason overtime, both teams get a chance to have possession regardless of whether the offense scores a touchdown on the opening drive. The regular-season rules currently state that a team can win if it scores a touchdown on the first possession.</p>

Jones parted ways with head coach Mike McCarthy at the end of the regular season, tapping offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to fill the vacancy.</p><p>"This is the best way we can go to the playoffs and win," Jones <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3202149" href="https://thescore.com/news/3202149">said</a> of Schottenheimer's hiring Jan. 27.</p><p>The Cowboys haven't made an NFC Championship Game since 1995. "I really love this game and I think throughout the year it can get pretty tough."</p><p>He continued: "It's moments like these, the playoffs, these memories that I'll have with the teammates and coaches that I go to war with. ... There's just a certain love that I've found in it, and I think it's because of the people that I go to work with."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The 35-year-old is one of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' go-to players but saw a dip in production this season. Kelce finished the regular season with 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns, the lowest totals of his 11-year career.</p><p>But Kelce has stepped up in the postseason and continued to build on NFL records. He holds the league records for most playoff games with 100-plus receiving yards (nine), most receiving touchdowns by a tight end in the playoffs (20), and most career postseason receptions (174).</p><p>"He's getting older, and so we're trying to cut back some of his reps, and he won't do it," Mahomes said Tuesday, per <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6117159/2025/02/06/chiefs-travis-kelce-super-bowl/">The Athletic's Michael Silver</a>. "Whenever you're tired and whenever you're not wanting to take a practice seriously or take a rep seriously, you look at him and he's going full speed, scoring touchdowns after every catch, and it motivates you to take your game up to another level."</p><p>The future Hall of Famer has spent his entire NFL career with the Chiefs and helped the team win three Super Bowls in five seasons. He has one more season left on his contract before becoming a free agent.</p><p>"It's such a special time in Chiefs history, and this legacy is just so fun to be a part of," Kelce said Wednesday, per Silver. “I'm just trying to cherish all these memories and make the most out of all these opportunities that we have chasing these rings."</p><p>The Chiefs are looking to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.</p>
