West was diagnosed with bipolar disorder during his time in the NBA and has struggled with substance abuse issues and homelessness. He entered a drug rehabilitation center in September 2020 with help from Mavs owner Mark Cuban but was arrested a little over a year later in Florida on charges including resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication.
West averaged 9.7 points and 3.6 assists per game over eight seasons in the NBA.
