Report: Mayweather being sued for $2M by Nigerian media company
A Nigerian media company has filed a lawsuit against Floyd Mayweather Jr. claiming they were scammed by the retired boxer.
Zinni Media says it agreed to pay Mayweather $375,000 - including $210,000 up front - to make five appearances in Nigeria and Ghana in June 2017, TMZ Sports reports. It also claims that Mayweather made a video confirming the appearances, but days before the first event was scheduled to take place, he bailed.
In the lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in California, Zinni states that Mayweather's representatives offered to reschedule his appearances and add additional dates for December 2017 with an increased price of $510,000. Zinni agreed, but Mayweather allegedly failed to show once again and has yet to return the $210,000.
Zinni is now seeking $2 million from Mayweather to make things right.
Forbes listed Mayweather as the highest-paid athlete in the world for 2018 with estimated earnings of $285 million since June 2017.
