The much-anticipated rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin undoubtedly exceeded the hype, but as was the case with their first bout, Saturday's classic back-and-forth bout truly could have gone to either man.
In the end, it was Alvarez who had his hand raised at T-Mobile Arena as the new unified world middleweight champion, handing Golovkin his first-ever loss as a professional.
Twitter was in a frenzy following the title change. Some praised the combatants for a fight that will truly stand the test of time, while others were disgruntled over yet another controversial outcome.

Golovkin is still undefeated in my eyes, and those who know boxing.
Canelo should have 3 losses - 1 to Mayweather and 2 to Triple G.

If you had Golovkin winning 115-113 and someone else saw two rounds differently (there were about five toss-up rounds) and had it as a draw or Canelo winning 115-113, that's just boxing. The issue in the first fight wasn't the draw but Adalaide Byrd's absurd 118-110 scorecard.

I don’t think it was robbery, had Canelo winning and I really wanted GGG to win. Some very close rounds that could have went either way. Canelo’s body work, sharp counters and punch output stole it for me. Great fight with two great champions! Gutted for GGG 💥🥊
