Gennady Golovkin is close to finalizing his return to the ring at Madison Square Garden on June 8, sources told Dan Rafael of ESPN. It will be his first bout since losing his unified middleweight titles to Canelo Alvarez in September.

The 37-year-old doesn't yet have an opponent, but offers have been made to the unbeaten Steve Rolls and former middleweight world titlist Hassan N'Dam, adds Rafael.

Golovkin, who signed a six-fight, nine-figure contract with DAZN in March, reportedly plans to compete at 164 pounds.

Canelo's also signed with the streaming service, and a third bout between the rivals is likely to take place in September if both win their next fights. Alvarez is set to face Daniel Jacobs in a world title unification bout on May 4.

By losing a close majority decision to the Mexican, Golovkin missed out on the chance to make a record-breaking 21st consecutive title defense.
