McGregor wants Mayweather rematch: 'I know I'd beat Floyd'

Conor McGregor wants a rematch with Floyd Mayweather.

The former UFC two-division champion crossed over to boxing to take on former world champion Mayweather in August 2017. In one of the biggest and most lucrative fights of all time, McGregor lost by 10th-round TKO.

"I'd like to rematch Floyd. I think we should rematch Floyd," McGregor told Ariel Helwani's MMA Show. "He's flirting with (a comeback) and doing all this. He can go and pick someone else, it's not going to be the same."

McGregor added: "I done phenomenal in that bout. And the only reason I lost that bout was because I prepared for a back-footed, Philly-shell style of opponent. And when the fight was like that, I was picking him apart. Then, he came forward and started pressing, and I wasn't sinking into my shots like I am now with my boxing coaches."

McGregor, who returns to the Octagon against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on Saturday, is confident that the result would be different in a rematch with Mayweather.

"I know I'd beat Floyd. I'd beat Floyd if we rematched - when we rematch," McGregor said.

Mayweather announced in late 2019 that he is planning to come out of retirement this year. He retired after the McGregor bout.
