Manny Pacquiao has retired from boxing at the age of 42.
The sport's only eight-division champion most recently boxed on Aug. 21, losing by unanimous decision to Yordenis Ugas in a 12-round super welterweight bout. Ugas served as a replacement to Errol Spence Jr., who was removed from the card after suffering an eye injury days before the event while training.
The Filipino legend retires with a 62-8-2 record, with 39 victories coming by knockout. Pacquiao won 12 major titles during his career and was the first boxer to claim lineal championships in five different weight classes.
The news comes one week after Pacquiao officially launched his campaign to become president of the Philippines.
