Estrada defeats Chocolatito by majority decision in wild trilogy bout
The trilogy belongs to Juan Francisco Estrada.
Estrada defeated longtime rival Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez by majority decision to claim the WBC super flyweight championship Saturday at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Judges scored the fight 114-114, 116-112, 115-113 in favor of Estrada.
"El Gallo" dominated the early rounds, striking a sluggish "Chocolatito" with quick combinations. However, Gonzalez came on in the second half of the fight to make it close, showcasing his typically aggressive approach and high punch output.
The two fighters battled until the final bell, but Gonzalez's late resurgence couldn't overcome his slow start, as Estrada's hand was raised in victory for the second straight fight over his rival.

Estrada improved his record to 44-3 with his victory, while Gonzalez dropped to 51-4.
After the fight, Estrada called his opponent a "future Hall of Famer" before saying he'd welcome a fourth bout between the two.
The 35-tear-old "Chocolatito" didn't seem so certain about another fight, joking "that as long as they pay well, of course," he'd fight Estrada again. Gonzalez added that he wasn't sure about the next steps in his career.
"I don't know yet. I'm going to talk about it with my family," he said. "My kids are the most important thing that I have to take into consideration."
