Mayweather toys with ex-MMA fighter Chalmers in exhibition bout
One day after turning 46 years old, Floyd Mayweather shined in his first exhibition match of 2023.
The legendary boxer dominated former MMA fighter and reality star Aaron Chalmers over eight rounds at The O2 Arena on Saturday in London. No official winner was announced because the fight wasn't sanctioned.
Mayweather's hands were on point as they always are; he consistently landed hard punches throughout the contest. However, he never rocked or dropped Chalmers.
"Money" also clearly enjoyed himself in the ring Saturday, as he danced in his corner between the fifth and sixth rounds and began to taunt Chalmers late in the fight. At one point in the sixth frame, Mayweather said, "This is so easy" to his opponent.
This was Mayweather's fourth exhibition fight in the past year and sixth since 2018. He scored knockout wins in September and November after going the distance with Don Moore last May. His most notable exhibition was against YouTube star Logan Paul in June 2021.
Chalmers, who rose to fame as a cast member on the British reality show "Geordie Shore," is 1-0 as a professional boxer after making his debut last year. He holds a 5-2 record in MMA and competed four times in Bellator between 2018 and 2020, compiling a 2-2 mark. Chalmers retired from MMA in 2021.
Mayweather retired from pro competition in 2017 after earning his 50th win in a megafight with UFC star Conor McGregor.
