Report: Fury-Usyk undisputed title fight set for Feb. 17 in Riyadh
The undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk was rescheduled to Feb. 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, sources told ESPN's Mike Coppinger.
The two champions were originally scheduled to fight on Dec. 23, but Fury demanded the date be changed after he struggled to a controversial split-decision win over MMA star turned boxer Francis Ngannou at the end of October.
This new date ends a contentious couple of weeks between the two sides. Usyk wanted the fight to take place on the original date because he was prepared.
"We have a contract that says that the fight has to take place on the 23rd of December. ... I will be ready for the 23rd because I'm in training camp," Usyk said in late October.
The undefeated Fury is in possession of the WBC heavyweight strap, while Usyk holds the WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight titles.
Two other major fights in the heavyweight division will reportedly take place on Dec. 23 in Riyadh instead. Anthony Joshua will fight Otto Wallin, while Deontay Wilder will square off against Joseph Parker, sources told Coppinger.
