Bivol, Beterbiev to fight for undisputed light heavyweight title June 1
A long-awaited undisputed light heavyweight title bout between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev will take place June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Turki Alalshikh, Saudi Arabia's chairman of general authority for entertainment, announced the news Saturday on "The MMA Hour."
Alalshikh added that five promoter-versus-promoter fights pitting Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing against Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions will be on the undercard.
Bivol's WBA title and Beterbiev's WBC, IBF, and WBO belts will be up for grabs.
Both Bivol and Beterbiev are undefeated and coming off impressive performances that cemented them as the two best light heavyweights and two of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world.
Bivol defeated Lyndon Arthur by a lopsided unanimous decision in December in Riyadh, lifting his pro record to 22-0. Beterbiev demolished Callum Smith en route to a seventh-round TKO win last month in Quebec City, improving to 20-0 with a 100% knockout rate.
