The rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall was pushed back from April 27 to May 25 on Thursday, Matchroom Boxing announced.

The junior welterweight non-title fight will still take place at First Direct Arena in Leeds, England.

Taylor said on X that he underwent a minor eye procedure in early February, causing a delay to the fight.

"A subsequent checkup showed that I was on the right path for April 27," Taylor wrote. "I attended a final checkup yesterday expecting to be signed off by the medical team. However, I was told that my recovery had slowed, and I was advised to postpone the fight."

This isn't the first time Taylor-Catterall 2 has been rebooked. The rivals were scheduled to square off for a second time in February 2023, but the fight was postponed to March of that year, and then Taylor pulled out due to a foot injury.

Catterall and Taylor first met in an undisputed junior welterweight title bout in February 2022. Taylor earned a controversial split-decision victory to remain champion.

Taylor, who over time vacated three of the four major belts to pursue a rematch with Catterall, opted to defend the WBO title against Teofimo Lopez last June. The Englishman suffered his first career defeat and dropped his last belt.

Catterall is 2-0 since the first Taylor fight. Most recently, the Scottish boxer beat Jorge Linares by unanimous decision last October.
