The July 20 event headlined by the heavyweight boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson has been postponed, Most Valuable Promotions announced Friday.

Tyson's doctor recommended Thursday that he do minimal training "over the next few weeks" to rest and recover from an ulcer flare-up he suffered on a flight last weekend.

A new date for the fight - which is still expected to take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, later in 2024 - will be announced by the end of next week.

"My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s, and I will be back to my full training schedule soon," Tyson said in a statement. "Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end, you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good."

Paul-Tyson will be a professional boxing match sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration, with eight two-minute rounds and 14-ounce gloves. It will be Tyson's first pro bout since 2005 and first fight at all since an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020.

Paul, the YouTube star turned prizefighter with a 9-1 pro record, said he was OK with postponing the bout so Tyson, one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, "has no excuses come fight night." Tyson will be 58 and Paul will be 27 when they meet in the ring.

Purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. Fans unable to attend the event will be eligible for a refund.

A rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano was scheduled to serve as the Paul-Tyson co-main event.
