Jake Paul plans to box at 2028 Olympics
Jake Paul has his eyes set on boxing at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
"I'm going to enter the 2028 Olympics for boxing in Los Angeles," Paul said on the "BS w/ Jake Paul" podcast.
Boxing isn't currently part of the programme for 2028. It's been part of every Olympics since the 1912 Stockholm Games.
IOC president Thomas Bach said Friday that a decision on boxing's inclusion at the 2028 Olympics has to be made next year, according to Reuters' Karolos Grohmann. The IOC took control of boxing at the 2024 Games but has said it needs to find a new partner for 2028.
A United States man hasn't won a gold medal in boxing at the Olympics since Oscar De La Hoya at the 1992 Barcelona Games.
Paul owns a 10-1 record in 11 career boxing fights with seven wins coming via knockout.
"I'm sick and tired of waiting for another gold for Team USA," Paul added.
Paul, 27, picked up a sixth-round TKO victory over Mike Perry in July after Perry stepped in to replace Mike Tyson, who had to withdraw due to injury. Paul and Tyson are scheduled to square off in November at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
