Shields becomes 1st-ever undisputed women's heavyweight champ
Claressa Shields continued to cement her status as boxing's greatest woman of all time with a decisive victory over Danielle Perkins on Sunday.
Shields defeated Perkins by unanimous decision (100-89, 97-92, 99-90) to become the first-ever undisputed women's heavyweight champion and did so in her hometown of Flint, Michigan.
The 29-year-old Shields dominated the fight from start to finish against a very game Perkins. Shields knocked down Perkins twice in the bout, including a devastating right hand in the dying seconds of the 10th round.
Shields remains undefeated with the win. She added more titles to a decorated resume, which includes championships in five different weight classes.
After the fight, the self-proclaimed "GWOAT" said she'd like to box two more times this year. She said a rematch against Savannah Marshall - with it being in the United States this time instead of in England - is high on her list of future opponents.
Shields also said fights against Hanna Gabriels or Franchon Crews-Dezurn could also be possibilities.
However, Shields revealed to reporters, including ESPN's Eric Woodyard, that she tore the labrum in her left shoulder days before the fight and expects to undergo surgery.
