Haney to face Norman for welterweight title
Devin Haney will challenge Brian Norman Jr. for the WBO welterweight title in November in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, announced Sunday.
A specific date for the matchup wasn't revealed.
Haney, the former undisputed lightweight champion and WBC junior welterweight titleholder, is seeking a title in a third weight class. The November bout will mark his first fight at 147 pounds.
The 26-year-old is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jose Ramirez at a blockbuster event in New York's Times Square in May. Haney holds a 32-0 (1 NC) record.
Norman delivered a Knockout of the Year candidate earlier in June in Tokyo, finishing Jin Sasaki in the fifth round to retain his title. The 24-year-old was promoted to WBO welterweight champion last August and has defended the belt twice this year. Norman is 28-0 (2 NC).
