Report: Manchester City's £20M Gundogan signing imminent
Manchester City is apparently nearing the unveiling of Ilkay Gundogan's transfer from Borussia Dortmund, despite the German international nursing a significant knee injury which has forced him out of Euro 2016 contention.
City director of football Txiki Begiristain appeared to be caught in a meeting with Gundogan's uncle and agent in March discussing a transfer, and BBC Sport's David Ornstein understands that the midfielder's injury hasn't deterred Pep Guardiola making him his first signing at Eastlands for around £20 million.
The 25-year-old put in 25 tireless Bundesliga performances for Dortmund last term, proving himself as an adept box-to-box performer and somebody who could make a decent fist in filling the void left by Yaya Toure, who is widely touted to be heading for the exit at Manchester City.
It could be the beginning of some significant transfer activity in the northwest, with earlier reports stating that Guardiola is eyeing eight new signings at City. Jose Mourinho has also moved next door to Manchester United, drawing the eyes of the footballing world on the old Cottonpolis for much of the summer window.
