Leicester signs World Cup-winning goalkeeper Zieler
Claudio Ranieri has begun bulking up Leicester City for its looming Champions League initiation and Premier League title defence with the signing of goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler.
The 27-year-old joins for an undisclosed fee from Hannover 96, signing a contract which ties him to the east Midlands outfit until 2020.
"It feels great coming to Leicester and joining the club after they've had such a great season - it's really nice to be part of the club now," said Zieler, who was part of the Germany squad that won the 2014 World Cup and will now offer competition to Kasper Schmeichel between the sticks.
Zieler will be reunited with several members of Leicester's squad from his time progressing through the ranks at Manchester United. Danny Simpson, Danny Drinkwater, Ritchie De Laet, and Matty James are all products of the Red Devils' academy.
Zieler added: "I've been shown around the training ground and it looks very good and I've been to the stadium - I heard about the great atmosphere and the great fans, so my first impression is very good."
Foxes' new shot-stopper wasn't selected in Joachim Low's Germany squad for Euro 2016, so will be expected to link up with his new teammates on the first day of preseason training.
