Bayern Munich's Sanches to miss 3-4 weeks with thigh injury
New Bayern Munich signing Renato Sanches will have to wait a little longer to make his competitive debut for the Bavarian outfit as he recovers from a pre-existing thigh injury, the club confirmed Sunday.
The 18-year-old initially suffered the problem during the Euro 2016 final against France, and missed Bayern's training session this weekend.
Bayern stumped up €35 million to secure Sanches' services from Benfica before the start of the tournament - a move that likely saved the Bundesliga champion millions. The Portuguese midfielder played an important role in his country's first major international triumph, winning the Euro 2016 Young Player of the Tournament award in the process.
He was unveiled at Bayern's training ground last Thursday, posing for pictures and showing the cameras a few tricks and flicks.
But Sanches ultimately won't be available for selection for Bayern's league opener on Aug. 26 against Werder Bremen.
