Tottenham Hotspur's forgotten man, Nabil Bentaleb, has joined FC Schalke 04 on a season-long loan.
Over the past two seasons, the defensive midfielder has suffered significant layoffs due to ankle and knee injuries, and was firmly down the pecking order at White Hart Lane behind Eric Dier, Moussa Dembele, and Victor Wanyama.
At Schalke, he adds to what has been an impressing transfer window overseen by manager Markus Weinzierl. Precocious Swiss striker Breel Embolo and right-back Coke have joined before him, with Benjamin Stambouli undergoing a medical ahead of an expected switch from Paris Saint-Germain.
"I am really looking forward to this new challenge at Schalke and getting to know the fans," said Bentaleb. "I first learned of Schalke's interest six weeks ago and have been hoping since then that the transfer would be completed.
"Schalke 04 are a big club and their fans have a great reputation in England."
Bentaleb has 19 caps for Algeria, but will hope to make his club debut in a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday before the upcoming international break.
