Dortmund completes undefeated 2016 homestand with Augsburg draw
It may have seemed like any other result, as Borussia Dortmund drew FC Augsburg 1-1 at Signal-Iduna-Park on Tuesday, but with yet another point taken and with no fixtures remaining in the calendar year, Thomas Tuchel's side has now gone undefeated at home in league play for the entirety of 2016.
The accomplishment was not assured, however, as Augsburg's Ji Dong-Won opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, putting Dortmund down 1-0 at half-time.
However, a quick turnaround in the second half saw Ousmane Dembele notch an equaliser in the 47th minute, and despite coming up with a few more chances at goal, Dortmund and Augsburg ended up splitting the points.
Although Dortmund fans were not forced to endure a home loss all year long in the Bundesliga, the team did falter at the Westfalenstadion in a DFL-Supercup match that ended 2-0 for Bayern Munich.
In league action, Dortmund finished the year with 19 wins and 6 draws at Signul-Iduna Park.
