Report: RB Leipzig discussing contract with Keita; Arsenal, Bayern interested
RasenBallsport Leipzig is reportedly talking to the outstanding midfielder from its surge in the Bundesliga while two of the Champions League's regular competitors are scouting the player.
The Saxony club is still in discussions with Naby Keita over a new contract, and Arsenal and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in the 22-year-old, reports the Guardian's Ed Aarons. The Gunners have apparently scouted Keita extensively this season, and RB Leipzig is allegedly keen to tie the Horoya AC product down to a new contract.
Keita's current club sits second in the Bundesliga with 52 points from 26 matches, and as Aarons wrote in March, the prospect of playing in the Champions League could persuade him to stay.
The Guinean boasts six goals and seven assists through 23 appearances in the Bundesliga this season. He suffered a circulatory collapse following RB Leipzig's 1-0 defeat to VfL Wolfsburg in March and, as a precaution, was hospitalised overnight.
"I don't know what my future holds, but I want to keep improving," Keita said recently. "I see my life and career as a ladder that I want to climb rung by rung. Right now I'm a relatively small, unimportant footballer, but I want to grow and experience success. I dream of being the best player in Africa, and one day the world. (Lionel) Messi is the best footballer on the planet right now, and I'd like to experience similar successes to him."
