Aubameyang reveals he wants to join AC Milan
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang issued a clear come-and-get-me plea to AC Milan.
After scoring a hat-trick in an early-round DFB-Pokal match Saturday to become Borussia Dortmund's all-time record foreign scorer, the 28-year-old sat down for an easygoing live stream on Instagram, where he addressed rumours of a potential move to the resurgent Rossoneri.
Aubameyang responded in Italian to one user who asked him to join Milan: "I'd love to, but if they are sleeping, what can I do?"
It's unclear who exactly is "sleeping" in this situation.
Dortmund removed Aubameyang from the transfer market last month after setting a deadline for him to find a new team. It remains to be seen whether the German outfit will maintain its stance through the end of the summer window.
Barcelona's interest in Ousmane Dembele has threatened to derail Milan's pursuit altogether, as it's unlikely Dortmund would sell two of its biggest stars in the same month.
Despite investing than €200 million in 10 major signings, Milan is openly on the market for a top-tier striker to conclude a transformative summer of business. In addition to Aubameyang, Torino's Andrea Belotti, Fiorentina's Nikola Kalinic, and Chelsea's Diego Costa have been linked with the San Siro outfit.
Aubameyang played briefly for Milan's youth team in 2007-08, but never made an appearance with the senior side. Loan moves to Dijon, Lille, and Saint-Etienne gave him the platform to build his career.
He eventually earned a high-profile transfer to Dortmund in 2013 and developed into one of the game's deadliest strikers, finishing last season as the Bundesliga's top scorer with 31 goals.
