Bayern Munich star Thiago gets all-clear after injury scare
Berlin - Bayern Munich received a boost on Thursday when Spain international Thiago Alcantara was given the all-clear after an injury scare in their Champions League win at Besiktas.
The injury-prone midfielder scored Bayern's opening goal in Wednesday's 3-1 win in the last 16, second leg, in Istanbul, but was forced off on 35 minutes with a foot injury.
A scan in Munich has revealed only a tightening of the tendons under his left foot as Bayern booked their place in the quarter-finals after beating Besiktas 8-1 on aggregate.
Bayern will discover their last eight opponents in Friday's draw and have said that Thiago would only miss training for a few days.
The 26-year-old missed 13 games up until mid-February with a leg injury and was out for half a year with a torn a knee ligament in 2015.
Thiago is set to sit out Sunday's league match at RB Leipzig with Bayern starting the weekend 20 points clear in the table.
A victory at Leipzig could seal Bayern's sixth straight Bundesliga title, providing other results go their way before kick-off on Sunday.
