Callum Hudson-Odoi isn't leaving Stamford Bridge after all.
The teenage winger agreed to terms on a new five-year contract worth over £100,000 per week to remain at Chelsea, reports Alistair Magowan of BBC Sport.
Hudson-Odoi, recovering from a ruptured Achilles suffered in April, has been the subject of multiple bids from Bayern Munich. The Blues reportedly rebuffed a £35-million offer from the German giants in January, to which the 18-year-old apparently responded by submitting a transfer request.
But any enmities between the two parties now seem to have been set aside.
Frank Lampard's influence was key in convincing Hudson-Odoi to remain in the Premier League, Magowan adds. The new Chelsea bench boss spoke glowingly of the exciting youngster after he assumed the managerial job.
"Knowing his talent, he can be central to this team, he can be central to an England team," Lampard said earlier in July, per Sam Wallace of The Telegraph.
"... He can show right here at Chelsea, the club he came through the academy at, that he is going to be an absolute world-class player ... I truly believe that."
A lack of playing time under Maurizio Sarri last season - Hudson-Odoi made just 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals - was a key hurdle that stalled negotiations over a new deal. But with Lampard an open admirer of the Englishman, and Chelsea's transfer ban forcing them to look in-house to replace the production of Eden Hazard, Hudson-Odoi should get plenty of opportunities to shine once he returns from injury.
Magowan notes that the England international is progressing ahead of schedule and could be back on the pitch as soon as September.
