Eintracht star Rebic set for AC Milan move
Berlin, Sept 1, 2019 (AFP) - Croatia forward Ante Rebic is on the verge of becoming an AC Milan player after Eintracht Frankfurt revealed that he was making his way to Italy, with Andre Silva travelling in the other direction.
"Ante is on his way there (to Milan) ... Silva is here for a medical check on Monday. He is a very different player than Rebic, (but) he is a really great footballer," said Eintracht sporting director Fredi Bobic after his team's 2-1 win over Fortuna Duesseldorf.
Rebic reportedly asked coach Adi Huetter if he could be left out of the squad ahead of Sunday's clash, won thanks to goals from Bas Dost and Goncalo Paciencia.
"It was not an easy day for all of us with the story of Ante Rebic, who didn't come into the squad so that he could make the change (to Milan), but in return we get Andre Silva, a player we've been working on for some time," said Hutter.
"All you have to do is look at his stats and you will see that a very good player comes to us."
Last season Rebic was one of Eintracht's 'Balkan trio', alongside Serbs Filip Kostic and Luka Jovic, the latter of whom moved to Real Madrid for 65 million euros ($73.5 million) in June.
They reached the semi-finals of the Europa League in a hugely entertaining campaign but didn't qualify for Europe after failing to win a game in their final six Bundesliga fixtures.
