Leverkusen sign Patrik Schick from Roma for initial €26.5M
Bayer Leverkusen aren't stowing all of the money raised from Kai Havertz's sale in a savings account.
Die Werkself signed Patrik Schick from Roma for an initial €26.5-million fee on Tuesday. Leverkusen will have to pay the Italian club 10% of the profit earned from the Czech forward's next transfer.
Schick, who signed a five-year contract with Leverkusen, spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at RB Leipzig, scoring 10 goals in 28 appearances.
His arrival at Leverkusen is designed to offset the departures of Havertz and Kevin Volland during the summer transfer window. Havertz and Volland moved to Chelsea and AS Monaco, respectively, after scoring 36% of the club's goals during the 2019-20 Bundesliga season.
Leverkusen will meet fourth-tier Eintracht Norderstedt in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on Sunday.
