Dortmund sign French teenager Coulibaly from PSG
Berlin, March 18, 2021 (AFP) - Borussia Dortmund on Thursday announced the signing of French teenager Soumaila Coulibaly, 17, from the youth academy of Paris Saint-Germain for next season.
The centre-back has signed "a long term" deal. He has trained with the senior PSG squad, but has not played for the first team and is currently sidelined by a knee injury.
"I am grateful for the training I have enjoyed at Paris St Germain, but this move is now the best step for me," said the France Under-18 defender in a statement.
Coulibaly said he also had "offers from other clubs, but when I first spoke to BVB (Dortmund), I knew straight away that this was the right club for me".
The French teen will be coached by Marco Rose, currently in charge of Moenchengldbach, who is due to take over at Dortmund next season.
Dortmund are into the quarter-finals of the Champions League and are currently fifth in the Bundesliga under caretaker coach Edin Terzic.
Last summer, PSG lost another of their promising young defenders to the Bundesliga when 18-year-old Tanguy Kouassi joined Bayern Munich.
