Bayern women win 8th Bundesliga title with victory at Union Berlin
Bayern Munich have become women's Bundesliga champions for the eighth time, and fourth in a row, after a 3-2 win at Union Berlin on Wednesday.
The victory took Bayern an unassailable 15 points clear of second-placed Wolfsburg, who played out a scoreless draw in their parallel game at Werder Bremen on Wednesday.
With scores locked at 2-2 late in the match, Bayern looked set to drop points for just the second time in the league this season but substitute Giulia Gwinn's 84th-minute goal snatched the visitors the win and the title.
Edna Imade and Barbara Dunst also got on the scoresheet for Bayern, while Union's Sophie Weidauer and Lia Kamber scored for the hosts in front of a crowd of 13,220 in the German capital.
The victory, which came three days after the men's team won the Bundesliga with four games remaining, demonstrated Bayern's dominance of the German game.
Both Bayern's men's and women's sides remain on track for a treble, a feat which has never been achieved in European football.
The Bayern women take on Spanish giants Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League, with the first leg in Munich on Saturday.
Bayern's men play at holders Paris Saint-Germain in their first Champions League semi-final three days later.
Bayern's women face rivals Wolfsburg in the German Cup final while the men play at Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-finals later on Wednesday.
