Thomas Muller needed just eight minutes to crush that spirit, setting up Mario Gotze with a deft little flick that completely bamboozled the Paderborn defense.

Muller is thought of by many as a somewhat mechanical player who is clinical in front of goal but not among the most technically brilliant members of his team.
