Berlin - Danish international midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on Thursday extended his contract with Bayern Munich until June 2018 before going on loan to Augsburg until the end of the season.
"It clearly demonstrates to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg that Bayern are counting on him for the future, and at the same time, his loan to Augsburg is a good solution for him to collect playing time before returning to us," explained club sporting director Matthias Sammer.
Hoejbjerg, 19, played 13 times for the double champions this season. Augsburg are sixth in the Bundesliga 18 points behind fellow Bavarians Bayern.
