Sami Khedira confirms Real Madrid exit
Sami Khedira's time at the Santiago Bernabeu will come to an end when the season concludes, as he prepares to explore new opportunities during the summer transfer window.
The German midfielder confirmed his desire to leave Real Madrid in an interview with German magazine Kicker, but said he's undecided about where he'll be playing football next season.
"I want to find new challenges for my career and continue to grow as a player," he said.
"I don't have an agreement with any club nor any preferences as to who I would like to join."
Speculation about his future with Real Madrid persisted throughout the season, as his spot in the starting team was consistently in doubt due to the club's depth of talent in the midfield and his failure to remain healthy.
A move to another club fell though near the end of the summer transfer window last year, but his time with Los Blancos was clearly coming to an end when he rejected a new contract.
He was linked to a move to the Premier League and could be highly sought after among English clubs once again in the summer, with the likes of Arsenal showing plenty of interest last August.
Bundesliga clubs Bayern Munich and Schalke might have the advantage, however, as they try to lure him back to his home country.
