Report: Manchester United interested in Bayern Munich's Schweinsteiger
Manchester United appear to be focusing their attention on yet another World Cup-winning German.
Following reports that the Premier League team will miss out on Borussia Dortmund centre back Mats Hummels, United have set their sights on Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, sources tell ESPNFC.
With his contract set to expire next summer and discussions regarding a new deal yet to take place, the report suggests the German captain could be available during the summer transfer window.
Schweinsteiger joins an illustrious list of midfielders that United will be targeting this summer in an effort to challenge Chelsea for the title and to enter next season's Champions League with a deeper pool of talent.
Paul Pogba, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin Strootman are among the midfielders manager Louis van Gaal could be interested in adding before the season kicks off again in August.
United have also reportedly expressed interest in Bayern striker Thomas Muller. Both Muller and Schweinsteiger played under van Gaal during the Dutch boss's two-year reign with the German champs.
