Borussia Dortmund warns Arsenal against bidding for Aubameyang: 'He is simply not for sale'
Put away that checkbook, Arsenal.
Addressing reports in the German press that suggested Arsenal failed to acquire Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a bid of £28.7 million and will submit a renewed bid of £30 million, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc insisted that he isn't accepting offers for the mohawk-clad forward.
"We rely heavily on Aubameyang – that is no secret," Zorc told German magazine "Kicker," according to Sky Sports. "I've heard a lot about this (a transfer to Arsenal) but I can say very clearly that it is blocked for him. He is simply not for sale."
Zorc's comments will come as a blow to Olivier Giroud, who – after Arsenal beat Everton 3-1 to win the Asia Trophy in Singapore – said that a new striker would add healthy competition to his side.
Aubameyang, who has three years left on the contract he signed at Dortmund in 2013, notched 16 goals and six assists through 33 Bundesliga appearances last season while ranking seventh in shots per game (3.1).
