Kevin De Bruyne's agent 'furious' over leading question about Wolfsburg future
A question during an awards ceremony in Germany left Kevin De Bruyne's agent "furious" after the midfielder was asked to deny speculation he is close to leaving VfL Wolfsburg.
The Sport-Bild Awards presenter asked De Bruyne, who's been linked with a transfer to Manchester City, to repeat - in German - "I, Kevin De Bruyne, will definitely be playing for Wolfsburg this season."
The question triggered an angry response from his agent, Patrick De Koster, and the Bundesliga club is also reportedly angry about the incident.
"I am furious by what has happened tonight," De Koster said, according to Sky Sports.
"Kevin wanted to show respect by attending this event. No decision has been made on Kevin's future in this transfer window.
"We have yet to find out if Wolfsburg has reached any agreement with a club. Kevin remains a Wolfsburg player and is focused on his job at the club. He also remains happy at Wolfsburg."
De Bruyne was being recognized as Lower Saxony's Footballer of the Year.
The incident occurred a day after Wolfsburg manager Dieter Hecking expressed his doubts over De Bruyne's future with the team, saying he anticipates "difficult days" ahead.
It's still not certain whether De Bruyne will return to England following a disappointing stint with Chelsea, despite a reported offer from City worth £47 million.
