Report: Manchester United paid £6.3M, not £15M, for Bastian Schweinsteiger
Manchester United may have found the bargain of the summer following a claim the English side paid almost £10 million less than originally reported for midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
While it was originally believed that United paid somewhere in the region of £15 million to acquire the midfielder from Bayern Munich, German outlet Bild suggests the defending Bundesliga champions only received £6.3 million.
The transfer was welcomed by various British outlets as a positive move for United, and will now look like a steal if the 31-year-old is able to have a positive impact at Old Trafford.
Schweinsteiger, however, has failed to start a match through the teams first two Premier league games and a Champions League play-off, but could be in line for increased playing time when he overcomes a nagging calf ailment.
