Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost kicked things off against Schalke 04 at the Volkswagen Arena with an emphatic volley in the 17th minute.
The 26-year-old Dutch forward got into position as a cross flew into the box from right full-back Christian Trasch. Dost got his leg up and smacked the ball with a powerful, acrobatic kick, beating Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann to give Wolfsburg a 1-0 lead.

It was a beautiful finish and it came well-deserved, as Wolfsburg dominated the play in the first half, putting on a passing clinic from the back. The move itself originated as central defender Naldo pushed forward, picking out Trasch for the assist.
Maybe Wolfsburg will be fine without Kevin De Bruyne after all?
