Hernandez, who joined United from Guadalajara in 2010, may have been considered a disappointment by supporters, but his goal-scoring record was admirable during his 5 years at Old Trafford.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed by either club, but it's believed United will receive £7.3 million, according to Simon Stone of the BBC.

His career at United looked all but over following last season's loan agreement which saw him spend the year with Real Madrid.

Hernandez, however, was considered to be a part of manager Louis van Gaal's plans for the season until United tuned its attention toward young French striker Anthony Martial, who is expected to join the Premier League side before the transfer window closes.

His best season in Manchester occurred during the 2010-11 season when he found the back of the 20 times and was named the team's Player of the Year.

The sale of Hernandez brings United's transfer haul to roughly £70 million following the departures of Robin van Persie, Angel Di Maria, Nani, Rafael and Jonny Evans.
