Javier Hernandez scored Bayer Leverkusen's third goal - his first for the club - in a comprehensive 4-1 victory over BATE Borisov in Matchday 1 of Group E.
The Mexican forward, who was signed from Manchester United on Germany's transfer deadline day, made his debut from the bench with 32 minutes remaining in Saturday's 1-0 home loss to Darmstadt.
Wednesday's visit of BATE yielded a much better result for Leverkusen and its big signing, however, as Hernandez latched onto a neat pass from Kevin Kampl before carefully slotting his shot between the legs of the onrushing Syarhey Chernik.
Leverkusen faces tough opposition in a trip to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
