VIDEO: Yunus Malli tallies hat trick as Mainz defeats Hoffenheim
Make that five goals in five Bundesliga fixtures for Yunus Malli of FSV Mainz 05.
Friday's match between Mainz and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim saw the 23-year-old attacking midfielder notch his first hat trick in the top flight of German football to guide his club to a 3-1 win.
Malli's heroics got underway in the 18th minute, when he collected the ball on the edge of Hoffenheim's penalty area and proceeded to shake off Fabian Schar before firing a shot between the centre-back's legs and into the back of the net.
Intent on restoring Mainz's lead in the second half, Malli scored one of the most incredible goals of his career in the 61st minute, when he received the ball on the edge of Hoffenheim's 18-yard box once again but, rather than dribble toward goal, opted to curl the most precise of shots past the outstretched fingertips of 'keeper Oliver Baumann.
Only seven minutes later, Malli completed his hat trick and sent Coface Arena into a frenzy, thumping home a shot after Hoffenheim failed to deal with a dangerous cross from Yoshinori Muto.
