Hoffenheim sacks coach Markus Gisdol, looks to Stuttgart's Huub Stevens
Berlin - Struggling Bundesliga side Hoffenheim said Monday they have fired head coach Markus Gisdol and replaced him with Dutchman Huub Stevens, due to the club's poor form.
Assistant coaches Frank Kaspari and Frank Froehling will also leave the club, said Hoffenheim, who are languishing second from bottom of the Bundesliga, having won only six out of 27 games this year.
Stevens, who left Stuttgart after saving them from relegation last year, has been given a contract until June 30, 2016.
"We were quickly convinced in our first conversations that Huub Stevens is the ideal solution," said the club's director Alexander Rosen, adding that the Dutchman had past experience of battling relegation and would inspire the team
Gisdol 46, took over as coach of Hoffenheim in April 2013, and managed to save them from being relegated several weeks later.
